The Miami Valley Aquatic Club (MAKOS) is a nonprofit year round swim team associated with United States Swimming, a nationwide organization of membership clubs that serve over 250,000 competitive swimmers. Most of our families and swimmers come from Oxford, Ohio, surrounding Butler County, and southeastern Indiana.  The team was founded 12 years ago and practices at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on the Campus of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  Over the twelve years of its existence this program has produced athletes who have competed at levels ranging from locally held USA Swimming meets all the way to Division I Collegiate Swimming, the USA Olympic Trials and the World Games.

The main focus of this program is to help develop the skills and conditioning of competitive athletes.  There are five levels of participation which focus on different aspects of the sport as athletes advance within the program.

MAKO BITES:
The Mako Bites are the future of our program.  We provide a fun learning environment where swimmers can become familiar with competitive strokes.  Practices are held Monday - Friday from 6-6:45 pm, most swimmers chose to swim 2-3 days a week.

MAKO SHARKS:
Athletes in this group are beginning to become proficient at the four competitive strokes and may decide to swim in competitions. Practices in this group focus on basic stroke mechanics and having fun!! There is no attendance policy for this group. Practices are Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

BRONZE 3 DAY:
This group is designed for the summer swimmer or the multi-sport athlete, who wants to continue swimming. Practices are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 to 8 pm. The focus of this group is improvement of stroke technique and conditioning. There is no attendance policy for this group.

BRONZE 5 DAY:
The Bronze 5 day group is composed of athletes who consider swimming one of their primary activities. These swimmers practice Monday through Friday and focus on competitive stroke technique, starts, turns and conditioning. Most athletes in Bronze 5 will compete in meets during the course of the season and are familiar with competitive swimming. There is no attendance policy for this group.

HIGH SCHOOL PRE SEASON:
